AI Strategy

I don't come to AI as a consultant repeating what's trending. I've built and shipped an AI product from the ground up, and spent years since teaching people how to actually use this stuff, not just read about it.

Workshops and hackathons. Three years of hands-on AI training, thousands of people, in rooms and on screens, walking out actually using the tools instead of just nodding along.

Built from scratch. One of the first AI tools designed specifically for students, parents, and counselors, conceived, built, and taken to market by me directly.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha research. Research and speaking on how younger generations actually live inside AI, not how adults assume.

Adoption, not hype. Helping leadership teams find where AI genuinely fits into daily work, and where it doesn't, before they spend real budget finding out the hard way.

Digital Go to Market

This is the other half of the same instinct: building the actual engine that turns strategy into revenue, and running it myself, not just designing it for someone else to execute.

Led sales and marketing directly. Ran both functions inside a company I helped grow and scale, not as an outside advisor but as the person accountable for the number. I made sales calls every day, every month, for ten years straight, driving real growth and solving real problems for real people on the other end of the line.

Homepage and conversion copy. Rebuilding how a brand explains itself so visitors act instead of bouncing.

Paid and organic campaigns. Facebook and paid media strategy, email sequences, and content built to move people through a real funnel, not just generate impressions.

Sales enablement. Training and scripts that get a sales team saying the same effective things, consistently, without sounding scripted.

Data driven iteration. Media spend analysis and performance reporting that actually changes what gets funded next quarter.

1:1 and Team Coaching

This is where the work gets personal. Strategy matters, but change actually happens one conversation, one decision, one team at a time.

Founder coaching. Working directly with founders navigating the moments that make or break a company, from the first hire to the hardest pivot, when the person at the top has nowhere else to bring the real question.

Individual coaching. One-on-one work with people standing at a genuine turning point in career, purpose, or the next chapter. Someone who needs a thinking partner who will push back, not just nod along.

Parent coaching. Direct conversations with parents trying to understand what their kids actually need, built on more than a thousand conversations with parents over eight years, not secondhand theory.

Team coaching. Getting inside a team that's standing up something new, a product, a process, a go to market motion, and coaching them through the actual work of building it, not just advising from the sidelines.

Ongoing, not one time. Coaching relationships built for the long haul, checking in as real decisions come up, not a single session that fades by the next quarter.

My Path Here

All my life, I’ve been pulled toward the moment right before someone discovers what’s next, before everyone agrees on something. Before a technology gets a name, before a company knows what it actually is, before a person decides what comes next. Most people find that moment uncomfortable. I find it so energizing, like a great new song you hear before everyone else and can’t wait to share. It's the reason I keep ending up in the middle of change instead of after it.

I'm not built for the theory side of things. I've read the whitepapers and sat through the panels, but what I actually love is standing in a room with real people and watching something click. A founder who says the quiet thing out loud for the first time because someone finally asked the right question. A team that finally sees the tool isn't the scary part, the ambiguity is. A parent who finally understands what their kid is worried about. A room full of people wrestling with something bigger than themselves, finding out they weren't the only one wrestling with it.

I think that's my actual skill. Not the technology, not the marketing, not the coaching. It's translation. I can stand between something complicated and someone who needs it to be simple, and make that gap disappear.

A Little More About Me

I grew up in Dallas, where I fell in love with Tex-Mex, and specifically with the crispy taco, one of the finer inventions of modern civilization. From there, life took me through College Station, Fort Worth, Plano, Westchester County, the Bay Area, Austin, and now Santa Fe. Eight cities, and each one left its mark on how I think about people and community.

All that moving around gave me plenty of time in movie theaters, where a different kind of memory took hold. You sit in the dark with strangers and cry with them, get scared with them, laugh at things you'd bury in any other room, all while staring at a flickering screen like it's a campfire. I have a real soft spot for a great bad movie, and Grand Canyon, 1991, is exhibit A. Clunky in places, and it still handed me a line I know is true: "All of life's riddles are answered in the movies."

I'm also an avid cyclist, the kind who disappears for a long ride and comes back a slightly better person, and who has absolutely no idea how to change a flat tire. Same goes for barbecue. I love eating it, I have real opinions about brisket bark, and I have never once smoked a piece of meat in my life. I just know good work when I taste it.

None of it means much without the people in my corner. Lisa and I have been married more than forty years, which either makes us very lucky, very stubborn, or both. Add our two daughters and a granddaughter, and I'm outnumbered by superheroes in my own family, exactly how I like it.
